Hey, I’m Sara.

The first thing you should know about me is that my personal mission is to help build the spiritual foundation for a more loving world. I am a professed Mystic, falling evermore in love with the Source of all that is. I am a cultural Christian, practicing and serving in the tradition of the love and justice of Jesus. And I’m a universal interspiritualist, engaging professionally and personally across the world’s faith and spiritual traditions with respect, awe, and wonder.

My spiritual direction practice focuses on those undergoing a sacred season of change, becoming, hardship, discernment or transformation. I am interested in the questions that emerge when our inherited beliefs, identities, and ways of living no longer quite fit—and we find ourselves called into something deeper. That’s the real question behind “soul seasons” — how will we tend our souls during the seasons that change us? I’m here to help you do that!

I have a special interest in the being and becoming of people ages 15-25, and I passionately believe in spirituality as an essential piece of the puzzle to address the mental health crisis. I work with people across the religious and spiritual spectrum (including spiritual-not-religious and agnostics) and am queer-friendly and affirming.

My career has spanned faith-based public policy advocacy with the United Church of Christ in Washington DC, spiritual philanthropy at the Fetzer Institute, justice-centered social media and journalism with Upworthy and other startups, and interfaith organizing in DC, Guatemala, Cleveland, New York and Los Angeles.

Most recently, as a founding member of the Coalition for Faith and Media, I organized efforts to help media organizations tell more fair and accurate stories about faith and spirituality—and used storytelling to expand public imagination around spiritual approaches to our most pressing social challenges.

I hold a Master’s in Nonprofit Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania and a certificate in the Art of Spiritual Direction from Stillpoint: The Center for Christian Spirituality, where I also serve as a Board member. I have also completed select theological coursework from Fuller Seminary.

Based in the San Gabriel Valley in Southern California, I love road cycling, traveling the world to experience religious rituals and sacred sites, bingeing K-dramas, counseling at church camps, and writing whimsical things that bring a little more wonder into the world.

Even though we haven’t met yet, I believe we are already connected.
